The Beach/ Birthday Party

Well, where do I start? First, Amy had her birthday party at a local pottery place. Several of her classmates came to the party and we had fun. I am blessed to have such a wonderful daughter. She had fun so everything was success.

Next, we just returned from a much needed vacation at the beach. We had fun and I cannot wait to go next year. My 92 year old granny came with us and she had fun. However, I will say, it took us a day to convince her that she was in Florida. She thought she was in Milwaukee, WI. I love her so much!

Well, I guess my focus for the next couple of weeks is to get Amy ready for school. School starts in a couple of weeks and I am not ready. Amy will start a private school this year so things are a little different from last year. I hope to blog again soon but until I do I pray God's blessings for you and your family.

Blessings

I have not blogged in a long time and I have a very good reason. My mom passed away in February from her long battle with cancer; I was distraught. I tried my best not to question God but I tell you it is difficult when you hurt. My mom fought hard and I know she is not in pain anymore because she is with God and other family members. So I feel better about that part but it is still difficult.

Anyway, I am OK now but the last couple of months were terrible. I had several questions for God.
1. Why would He move me to a city where I do not have a strong support system?
2. Why couldn't He find it in his power to let my mom live just one more week so she could have seen Kelly?
3. Why would He leave me so alone?

I then realized that I could not question Him because He has blessed me tremendously with the following:
1. He allowed my husband to find a wonderful job in a great city so that I could spend the last two years with my mom.
2. He took my mom before Kelly's birth because he knew that I would divert my time to Kelly and not think about her death as much.
3. I am not alone. Even though I have small family (grandma-92 yrs old, sister, aunt, and uncle) I am not alone. My husband and I found a wonderful church and they are our extended family.

Well, that is not all! I also went into labor in MS at my mom's funeral. Talk about a shock!! My husband and I tried to make it back to AL but God had another plan. I was so nervous to deliver in MS but the doctors took really good care of me. Well, I was not that nervous because I went to undergrad in that city so I knew everything but it is not the same.

Other than that, like that wasn't enough, Amy is growing so fast. She received an academic award at school, she is in swim lessons, and she will start camp in a couple of weeks. The only problem I have with her is she gets so excited about things so we are trying to work on that but overall she is doing great. I thought I would include a couple of pics as well; especially one of my mom. I will try to keep my blog going this time so please return to read more.

Such a Slacker

Well, it's been a long time since my last post. I tell you we have been BUSY!! Well, first on the list, we are going to have a GIRL!!! We are excited and blessed! God is good! She is active and a little feisty. Totally opposite from Amy. We cannot wait to meet her!

Other than that I've been out and about. I had lunch with Mrs. Grant, her husband is the new basketball coach for our area, a friend from college, and another mom I met, her husband is a doctor in the area. We had a really nice time and the food at the restaurant was delicious!

Amy also has been out and about. She had a lunch date with a couple of friends that attend a private school in our area. Actually, I might enroll her in that school next year. She had fun! The girls had lunch and then went to see the play Alice in Wonderland. She had a nice time.

We also went to the fair with my family a week ago and we had a blast. My sister won Amy a goldfish and his/her name is Goldie! She is so excited!

On another note, mom is doing well. She is in Stage 4 so we know that everything is in God's hands. She is determined to be here for the birth of the baby so I pray that goes well because I will need all the help I can get.

Well, other than that, nothing more just ready to have the little one so things can get back to normal around here. I really need to get us settled but I can only handle one thing at a time. So baby first and then I will get us settled.

I apologize

I apologize for the lack of posts. I have a good reason-we're pregnant!!!! Yes, Baby Jordan is due 3/20/09. Baby is healthy and I feel better. Man, I was sooo sick the last couple of months but things are better now.

What else??? Amy likes her new school and her teacher is really nice! She has a lot of homework but I am pleased thus far. Other than that, we are OK. Today is my birthday and I am blessed that God let me open my eyes another day. Thank Lord! You are awesome!

Well that's it for now! Will post more soon!

Sad Day

I have a lot on my mind right now. I guess the one thing I do not understand is-why can they not find a cure for cancer? I got some bad news today regarding my mom. The PET Scan showed several new hot spots and at this point the chemo will just slow the cancer down and give her a better quality of life. I am a Christian but deep down in my heart I wonder why? Why her? Why now? Why my family? My heart is very heavy right now and a part of me just wants to give up. Mentally and physically I am tired! Tired, tired, tired! OK.....I know God is in control and I know He will not put more on you than you can handle. I just have to rely on my faith and know He is in control.

Friends

We are finally back in AL! We had a nice time in SC but I'm glad to be back home in good ole AL. I am glad to be home but prior to the trip I was a little down in the dumps because I do not know a lot of people yet. Sometimes it is difficult to meet people when you stay at home. I met a really nice lady several months ago and she told me she was relocating to AL the end of July. She is finally here and I am glad. I also just found out her husband is a new coach at the university. I will see how it goes but I really miss my friends in Atlanta. My husband and I are going to visit a church this weekend-The Church of the Highlands in Bham. I have not had a chance to find a church bc I was always on the road going back and forth to MS bc of my mom's chemo. Amy starts school in a couple of weeks and I cannot go home as much so this will give me time to find a church, get settled, and meet some friends!

Slacker

OK..I am so behind on my posts. I will try to post soon. Currently, Amy and I are in SC with my hubby! My husband is here for a business trip this week and we are with him. This place is so much fun! I really like SC! The weekend before that Amy and I spent time with my family in a hotel in Jackson, MS. We had a blast. We took Amy to the Museum and we helped my mom pick out her boat at Bass Pro Shop. Well, hope to post more info and pics soon after things settle down a bit.
